Day 2 of the tour was a successful day. Both teams ended the day with comfortable. The Tour Party started the day with a nice breakfast at Central Park hotel in London.

From there we went to the matches which commenced at 13:00.

The 1sts boys were lucky enough to play on one of the best outfields they had ever played on. Which was met with pleasant hospitality. A constant joke between both games was the priceless Essex accents.

There were wins from both teams of the tour party against a strong opposition in Coggleshaw Cricket Club. In the 2nd XI, the boys won by 9 wickets with 9 overs to spare chasing 164 for victory. The bowling performance was excellent for 25 overs but it then went downhill for the last 5. In the 2nd XI, the boys won by 9 wickets with 9 overs to spare chasing 164 for victory. The bowling performance was excellent for 25 overs but it then went downhill for the last 5. There were great bowling performances from Curtis, Sam ( who also took a screamer off Curtis’ bowling) and Eddie (who deserved 3 wickets but was let down by fielding.) Luke also bowled well, the highlights of his opening spell were his peach ball which clipped the top of off, and his opening ball which was a fast bouncer, the Pom batsman played it well under his eyes but he said “bloody hell he’s quick, jogged in slow but his arms move quickly”.

The Batting performance was highlighted by a strong opening stand of 130 by Louis and Luke, Louis unfortunately got out for 34 but Potter and Luke batted well to finish the game and secure a win by 9 wickets. Luke batted extremely well and probably deserved a hundred but he was not out on 82, it was a well constructed innings with nice shots all around the ground, but mainly through the backward point region.

The 1st XI, played well for their win by 40 odd runs. They batted first and posted a strong score of 189. Edson batted well for 82 and others batted well around him such as Aaron and Rex with 20’s. They backed up the strong performance with the bat with a strong bowling performance. Manav and Mitch bowled well against older opponents, Mitch grabbing 3 and Manav 2 with some exceptional leg spin bowling. Nick also bowled well for 3 wickets, I’ve heard that Rex’s keeping was well up to scratch, and the fielding was above average. Congrats to Sahill who made his first XI coaching debut, and started with a bang.

The rest of the Day was fun with some games of AFL and also some Soccer. We then hopped on the bus for 30 mins on the way to a beautiful school that is Felsted. We hope for an improved day tomorrow.
